ABOUT ME

Kate Kroll - Headshots - Good Side Photo-6.jpg

Award-winning filmmaker, KATE KROLL is passionate about impactful storytelling and
unique subcultures. She is the recipient of the 2021 Canadian Media Producers Association
Kevin Tierney Emerging Producer Award for her work on the Telefilm feature film, 'Portraits
from a Fire' (Crave) which had a theatrical release on 33 screens across Canada. She most
recently wrapped post-production on the CBC Gem series, 'Future Futures' and has begun
production on the Telefilm documentary, 'Lunatic' (Raven Banner Entertainment). Current
projects in development include: the Telefilm-funded drama, 'What Comes Next'
(co-produced with Screen Siren Pictures); the horror comedy, 'Red Wings' (EMA
Films/Wazabi Films) and the thriller, 'Off Course' (Dir. Katrin Bowen).


Kate's notable work include 'No Fun City' (Super Channel), 'Shi-shi-etko' (BravoFact, APTN),
'Shin-chi’s Canoe' (BravoFact), the feature documentary, Path of Pilgrims (Vision TV), the
Prism Prize nominated Tanya Tagaq music video, 'Retribution'; and the Canada Council/NFB
experimental film 'Rangwang'.


Kate has garnered awards, grants, and mentorships from the Geena Davis Institute on
Gender in Media; Women in the Director’s Chair; the DGC; WIFTV; Canada Council for the
Arts; the NFB, and BravoFACT. Kate’s work has screened at TIFF, VIFF, ImagineNative, DOXA;
and has been broadcast on Bravo, Super Channel, Knowledge Network, Vision TV, APTN,
and Air Canada.


She holds a certificate in Entertainment Law from York University Osgoode Hall, is an
Pro-Wrestler, and is president of her boutique production company, Black Moon Media.
